Plagiarism and Intellectual Property Issues

This week we are talking about the PLAGIARISM STORIES’ video. The last video figures out why we need to do citing and how to do citing in writing essay. Two characters have different opinions on it. Girl has the most right idea in using citing. Boy usually asks some important questions which are often happened in essay writing. Firstly, should we need to use citing in the article? Answer is that we should use some academic resources to improve our main idea in our article. If a student writing a science essay, he need to use the previous scientist or professor’s result to prove his own result to give the academic conclusion to show scientific process in the project is correct. Even the arts and social science’s students also need to use some same topic books to find some useful argument points or theories from the university library to improve the essay.  Citing is not waste of time in writing process and it does not only prove that how much books does students already reading, but also improve students’ ideas and give opportunities to learn how to share ideas by other people.  Students need to give the reference after the paper, which is the most important part in academic writing. Citing resources like the rule in football game. Readers use writers’ reference to understand what writers doing.

Secondly, paraphrasing resources is another significant step. We cannot directly use the original sentences in our essay. If we use the same words in paper, we will meet a big trouble that is plagiarism. University prohibits the plagiarism, because this behaviors against the academic rule. Only one way to use other author’s idea in our paper is that we paraphrase the original sentences in our own words.  The question is that how should we do in paraphrasing step? We need to change the words to synonyms and sometimes we should do sentence pattern transformation in our paper. Usually we cannot find some prefect words to instead original words, but don't worried about that. We don't need to paraphrase whole things, just using the main idea from citing resources. Teacher always wants students to say everything in their paper from other resource means that teacher wants us to do an excellent work. If a student has high paraphrasing skill, he will transfer the idea very well. An excellent paraphrasing can let readers to trust you more than other writers. The benefit of paraphrasing is that providing more information, more argument, demonstrating your idea are all right and ideas belonging somebody else.

Finally, using citing in our paper is important to help us understand more details about our research. Citing can prove our research result or give stronger argument in the paper clearly. Readers believe and support your paper through the citing. Paraphrasing is the most significant skill in writing paper. We cannot copy words from other resources. However we can transfer original words to our own words and give the same main idea.
