are you kidding?

Plagiarism showing in the video

Dr. Joel Bloch, in his video “ Are you kidding”, focuses on the methods about how to quote, some controversial issues and the reasons of citing. The boy in the video argues that paraphrasing is difficult and he has to follow a form that is jejune and wastes time. On the contrast, the girl concludes that people just need to point the main ideas instead of changing everything. Furthermore, citing is the rule of academic writing and benefit to yourself. On the contrary, citing is a elemental way to avoid plagiarism, acknowledging it belongs to others, providing information that make readers trace your ideas and learn you better, distinguishing your argument to show that you read carefully.
One of the main controversial questions in the video is over-done the citation. The boy confused about why he has to use all the text rather than showing the main thoughts that he has read. The girl in the video explained that you should credit everything in which you guess it is important to cite since you would never know what you readers expect to you. I think the woman is right. Our purpose is let readers understand our ideas thoroughly and agree with our opinions. Thus, quoting everything is necessary.
