Self Reflection

Although I am a native speaker of Chinese, my writing in Chinese is mundane enough that my Chinese teachers always graded my works under average standards. Due to lack of careful observation about life, my writing about depicting scenes is particularly terrible while argumentation seems much easier to me. Moreover, in Chinese writing, we have to use more depiction measures to interconnect scenes with characters’ minds and motions. I have not mastered this complicated approach after years of practice. In contrast, English writing focuses more on narrative to present objective truth and express personal opinions. At the same time, English writing is not that much easy to me because English is my second language. Sometimes I can not wholly express my feelings with suitable words because when I remember English words, I only connect the link between the word and its Chinese translation to try to be familiar with much words as soon as possible while I should put the words back to original sentences to better understanding of the usage of words.
Making my digital story script is a long period. Based on the outline I firstly finished, I recalled whole story and presented it in public. To many people, the outline looks like a redundant and time-consuming task, but I think it is useful because following the steps in outline, I can tell the whole story without any neglections. I would apply this approach in my future writing.
After the study of the disadvantages of plagiarism, I realized the importance of obeying students’ codes. I would cite and quote original source at the proper times in my writing to avoid plagiarism.
