Blog#6 Writing Self Reflection

First of all, in my opinion, I don’t think I am a writer with my first language Chinese. An essay writing in Chinese is not only expressing my entire opinions, but also need many different kinds of decorating words. For example, if I will write a person’s characteristics, I can write them immediately. I need use some figures of speech such as metaphor, personification and zoosemy. I don’t think it is quite easy, because of learning how to use these figures of speech I should reading many books. Also in Chinese writing, I also need add famous words as much as I can. In the same manner, I think writing in English is easier. I don’t need to add many famous words in my essay, however I just need to present my own opinions. The most difficult of writing in English is combining two simple sentences and how to present my opinion in English. I usually write many simple sentences in the test, nevertheless I have to spend much time on combining these sentences. It’s very waste time, if I can write complicated sentences initially, it can save much time.

Furthermore, I write my digital story about traveling in Hong Kong by recalling my trip’s details. Then write an outline about the trip and add more details. I think my classmates’ comments are very useful. I can realize that which part is not very clear and which part is I need put more detail to explain.

In addition, I have knowledge the definition of plagiarism. I think the definition of plagiarism in USA is very different from the definition in China. In China, I always write an essay with many famous persons’ words without quotation mark. In the same manner, in American this situation is plagiarism. Therefore, I need to check my essay after I finished. I will make sure that I didn’t miss any quotation marks.
