We
have focused on the plagiarism for several weeks since the academic year began. We have to
admit that the plagiarism and copyright infringement is a popular topic
recently. Some students do not know how to finish their assignments or they
just want to finish their tasks "efficiently";therefore, they may
copy others' work. Nowadays, more and more international students coming to the
US for study, so the plagiarism will become an issue which they also should
care about; however, a lot of foreign students could not fully understand the rules
because of their culture or knowledge background. Therefore, "how to let
these foreign students fully understand rules like Honor Code" become a
big question which no educational facility can avoid. The first article "cheating
across culture" showed us that some business school students who failed to
acknowledge the Honor Code got serious punishment. The author Elizabeth Redden
points out that this situation definitely due to their educational background
which seen copy as a respect to the original source. Solutions must be figured
out before things get worse. The author Elizabeth Redden suggests special
orientation for international students to help them overcome this problem. However,
this problem is not only occur in the international students, but also happened
in the Harvard University. Recently, the news that 125 Harvard students were
accused cheated in the exam drug our attention back to the plagiarism. Cheating
and plagiarism become a topic which no one can afford to ignore.
Good introduction. Explain the issue more in your own words before going to the sources.
