‘Experience in Malaysia.’
The unforgettable moment comes to my mind is the experience
in Malaysia. It sounds awkward but, Malaysia is the country I had studied
abroad since2009. I can confidently say that staying there was just full of challenges
for me.
Back to the time 2009, one day, my mother recommended me to
study abroad in Malaysia. First time I heard that, I was just depressed and was
in big panic, since, in my imagination, there would be covered with jungle and
no city life such as shopping center or nowhere to hang out. After scratching
my head over studying in Malaysia, I decided to go there with my gut feeling. Because
I am quite a person who is not afraid of facing new circumstance and I thought
that would be challengeable decision for me.
After few weeks, I got to Malaysia. Malaysia was different
from the countries I have been. There are various races; Malaysian, Indian and
Chinese and religion as well. So, it was really shocked when I see the person
who wears turban lives in same place with Chinese and Indians. It made me
realize the how world is consisted with various people and they make diverse or
unique culture as well.
Speaking of international school life in Malaysia, it was
more exciting than I was expected. I would never notice that how much interesting
it is to mingle with friends from different countries. As I make friends from different countries, I
could get rid of fear of facing with foreigners. Furthermore, I organized the
club teaching Korean and made a Korean culture night. It was good time to
understand and communicate each other indeed. Also, I and my foreign friends
volunteered at Indian orphan regularly and it let me learn how to give them love
and help, even though we have different culture and communication problem. In 2011, I visited Alai village where is far
from the city and I did homestay for two nights and three days. I could feel
what is the Malaysian culture is and had a great time with international friends.
In the food competition among friends, I
won with fish curry that homestay mama taught me. Also, in the last night, villagers
hold the traditional wedding so that I experience their culture and had exotic
food there.
Except adapting to school, there was another challenge as to
stay away from parents .Simply, it was awesome. Firstly, it gave me a freedom
from strict parents. There was no night curfew and no command to do anything.
However, I was needed to be more independent and thoughtful person when it
comes to make a decision. Therefore, I was the chance to have a responsibility
on my own life.
With those experiences, it does not mean I just studied
abroad in Malaysia. It was the
opportunity to be an open –minded person and it broadened my horizon to the big
and diverse world by meeting multi-culture. Furthermore, the life in Malaysia was
my turning point in my life. It gave me an another challenge to study abroad in
U.S.A, since it boosted me to step forward to bigger country where I can meet
more various culture and people. Also,
it let me have a big dream to work in many foreign countries. Last but no
least, I hope I go through it well and I grow myself to move toward a global
mind.
What a great experience this was for you. Still need to work on some of the sentence structure and expressions before recording it.
ReplyDeleteI hope i can have such a wonderful experience as you did before i came to America. And i think it will be better if you can revise those sentence mistakes in your story.
