Blog #6 Writing Self Reflection

Without doubt, I am not a person who has not friendly relation with writing since I was young. Whenever I have a writing assignment, my head was filled up about how to start my story and complete it and I used to receive low grade for writing class as well. It made me get a kind of Trauma in Writing. So, fear of writing a paper was always followed me around, even though I write in Korean which is my mother tongue. Therefore, I can say that I was not a good writer and I was not even interested in writing.
However, since I studied abroad, I was needed to write all the papers including in English. I was in big panic for the first time. As an example, the word order of Korean is different from that of English. Normally, in case of Korean, we use subject, object and verb orderly so that the difference between Korean and English let me throw me into confusion. Moreover, the thing English has lots of synonyms than Korean gave me a hard task to go through it as a Korean.
Speaking of digital story, I wrote the digital story script easier than I thought, because it was not required a deep topic. I just could focus on sharing interesting experience I have with classmates. After I have classmate’s comment recommending me revise mistakes in sentences, I tried to write well-organized structure by amending those.
About plagiarism, although I knew I should not use someone else’s source without citation, I did not have an idea how to cite in my paper. Hence, it was really good to know about plagiarism and doing citation through this English Class and it made me aware of avoiding plagiarism such as revealing the sources by putting author’s name or paraphrasing in right way.
