Technology
makes students plagiarize. As we all know, technology like computer and
internet were developed very well in the recent few decades. In the old days,
students don’t have much convenient resources like we do, they always get information
by reading books or asking others. Which means when they want to plagiarism
they don’t have so much to resources and it is not easy for them to find what
they need in books. However, nowadays students are able to surf the internet to
get any info they want. What’s more, if they have a laptop or smartphone they
can even gather info anywhere anytime. That’s the technology changes, they
changed the way we learn the way we live; it has an impact change of our life.
In the article “Technology makes plagiarism too easy”, the author Forrest Mims
III discussed how technology makes people easy to plagiarize others’ intellectual
property. He used the word “unprecedented” to illustrate the technology changes
and he reports that with the help of internet some students just “cut and paste”
the info they get to finish their schoolwork. Same thing happened in that Harvard
Cheating scandal, Lauerman reported “electronic communication”, believed by
school, made the plagiarism possible. Harris, cited by Lauerman, analyzed that
with students’ internet age grow they gradually change the way they look at
intellectual property. That means, not like the older generation, students don’t
respect intellectual property much. When the internet plagiarism became more
and more frequent, some people stop making original works. As a result, things get worse and
worse.

Self Reflection
Although I am a native speaker of Chinese,
my writing in Chinese is mundane enough that my Chinese teachers always graded
my works under average standards. Due to lack of careful observation about
life, my writing about depicting scenes is particularly terrible while
argumentation seems much easier to me. Moreover, in Chinese writing, we have to
use more depiction measures to interconnect scenes with characters’ minds and
motions. I have not mastered this complicated approach after years of practice.
In contrast, English writing focuses more on narrative to present objective
truth and express personal opinions. At the same time, English writing is not
that much easy to me because English is my second language. Sometimes I can not
wholly express my feelings with suitable words because when I remember English
words, I only connect the link between the word and its Chinese translation to
try to be familiar with much words as soon as possible while I should put the
words back to original sentences to better understanding of the usage of words.
Making my digital story script is a long period. Based on the
outline I firstly finished, I recalled whole story and presented it in public.
To many people, the outline looks like a redundant and time-consuming task, but
I think it is useful because following the steps in outline, I can tell the
whole story without any neglections. I would apply this approach in my future
writing.
After the study of the disadvantages of plagiarism, I realized the
importance of obeying students’ codes. I would cite and quote original source
at the proper times in my writing to avoid plagiarism.

We
have focused on the plagiarism for several weeks since the academic year began. We have to
admit that the plagiarism and copyright infringement is a popular topic
recently. Some students do not know how to finish their assignments or they
just want to finish their tasks "efficiently";therefore, they may
copy others' work. Nowadays, more and more international students coming to the
US for study, so the plagiarism will become an issue which they also should
care about; however, a lot of foreign students could not fully understand the rules
because of their culture or knowledge background. Therefore, "how to let
these foreign students fully understand rules like Honor Code" become a
big question which no educational facility can avoid. The first article "cheating
across culture" showed us that some business school students who failed to
acknowledge the Honor Code got serious punishment. The author Elizabeth Redden
points out that this situation definitely due to their educational background
which seen copy as a respect to the original source. Solutions must be figured
out before things get worse. The author Elizabeth Redden suggests special
orientation for international students to help them overcome this problem. However,
this problem is not only occur in the international students, but also happened
in the Harvard University. Recently, the news that 125 Harvard students were
accused cheated in the exam drug our attention back to the plagiarism. Cheating
and plagiarism become a topic which no one can afford to ignore.

The rules are everywhere not only in sports but also in
plagiarism. Plagiarism has always been a big issue and it obviously still is a
hot potato in many areas. As the range
of plagiarism is widened, people have founded the reason why people are
plagiarized. Generally, the breach of rules, cultural difference and lack of morality
are grounds causing plagiarism. However, above all things, people are guilty of
plagiarism by violating the rule which tells how to cite and give a credit for
authors. Stanley Fish, in news article “Plagiarism is not a big moral deal “, describes
significance of following the rule as to quote source from others. He
demonstrates the similarity between golf and plagiarism which has strict and
clear rule. Moreover, he stresses that people should follow the rigid rules to
avoid plagiarism. Also, through this article, Fish added the punishment if they
do plagiarize. Furthermore, this contention is supported by the article “Harvard
Says 125 Students May Have Cheated on a Final Exam” written by Richard and Jess.
According to the Harvard’s student handbook, it emphasize that students must
abide by the honor code and they are supposed to be well-informed of the code
case by case; department, assignment or class. In the opposite sense, the news
article “The Culture of Deceit” written by Patricia McGuire points out the
integrity when it comes to plagiarism. In terms of education, he evaluates the morality
and which needs truth and integrity for the higher quality education. What is
more, McGuire mentions that those quantities can bring them to the true leader
in the society as well.

Plagiarism
is a hot topic which is in the education. Especially, international students
have this problem. However, there are a lot of reasons for international
students to have plagiarism. For example, Elizabeth Redden in " Cheating
Across cultures" points out some issues come up in some ways: educational
systems, language barriers and educators do to guide international students
well. Moreover, Petra Crosby as cited by Elizabeth Redden, adds knowledge could
present in different situations, some almost same words to be a sentence may be
have different meanings. Therefore, it is a point in language barriers, also in
cultures. And it is unconscious. Regardless, Chinese educational system is
substantially different from western educational system. In China, use some
beautiful sentences copied on the internet could make the article better and
get a good grade, but it is called copyright infringement in USA. Besides,
Jonathan Zittrain in "Salon.com" said "Unconscious copying may
still run afoul of the law". In other words, use someone else's work
instead of writing where they are from is plagiarism, whether there is a
conscious or conscious, it "still run afoul of the law".
In contrast,
plagiarism sometimes could be forgiven. Alan Brown finds that" source
amnesia", from his words" When most of us copy others
unintentionally, there are minimal consequences beyond irritation on the part of
the plagiarized individual". Therefore, just some common problems not
"run afoul of the law".

The fundamental
reason of International students’ plagiarism is a moral deal instead of the
cultural differences. Plagiarism is discussed by people in academic study since
a long time ago. Nowadays, it is especially prevailing among international students
because they are easily to involve plagiarism. However, these students are intentional
to commit plagiarism; they know the serious consequence of plagiarism, but they
risk the punishment of being suspended by schools to get better grades. It is a
moral deal and they choose to commit. Nevertheless, in the “Cheating Across Cultures”,
Elizabeth Redden analyses the reasons of international students’ plagiarism.
She claims that the cultures differences, like the differences of educational
systems are the main reason to explain their plagiarism. However, even under a
same educational system, plagiarism is still unavoidable. Recently, Richard
perez-pena and jess bidgood reported that 125 students have cheated on their
final exam. Even the students in the Harvard, one of the most famous universities,
can not avoid plagiarism. Consequently, students understand plagiarism clearly and
the culture differences or language barriers are the excuses for absolving from
punishments. Therefore, it is essential to learn the most fundamental reason of
plagiarism and trying to figure out this issue on a right way. Schools should mostly
focus on changing their mind of plagiarism, like to emphasize the importance of
a game’s rules, which are claimed in the Stanley Fish’s article, “Plagiarism is
not a big moral deal”. The rule are the key to continue the game and the academic
integrity are the guarantee for students studies.

There are two main aspects to explain the
reason why students get involved in plagiarism. Actually, plagiarism happens
more often in recent years. In my opinion, plagiarism is not a simple question
to think about; it must be considered in the exactly situation. First, from a
subjective position, plagiarism is a bad behavior so that students get in
trouble because of it. Students should take responsibilities for themselves, which
means that they are cheating on purpose. For example, for the Harvard Cheating
scandal in which 125 students cheated on a take home- exam, Susan Blum writes
in her “11 Reaction” article that “Students everywhere are trained early on to
attempt to ‘get something for nothing’.” In other words, every student could be
willing to cheat. In that case, plagiarism is not related to other reasons such
as educational backgrounds, because they know the consequences of cheating. The
pressure of studying, being short of time or other excuses are not acceptable. In
my view, it is not fair fundamentally because they want to get high grades by
plagiarizing. These students must get their punishments. However, everything
has two sides. From objective, different situations could lead students who are
not willing to cheat to be involved in plagiarism. As it was mentioned by
Stanley fish, “Plagiarism is not a big moral deal.” Plagiarism is just like a
rule game. The definition of the rule to a game is similar to the definition of
plagiarism to study. Once you change the rule, some behaviors could be defined
as plagiarism even if they were not before. In that case, the reason of some
international students’ plagiarism is excusable. Especially when an
international student writes a paper for the first time, from my experience, it
is reasonable to use other’s opinions in academic writings without quoting them.
These students who are in that case do not want to cheat at all and the reason
they got plagiarism is just because the change of the rules. So, we should
comprehensively consider for each plagiarism cases. I think plagiarism cannot
be generalized for one reason. The best way to consider it is from subjective
to objective position. In short, plagiarism is complex.

In recent years, plagiarism has been more commonly found, especially in those of university students. The situations and causes of plagiarism can be varied. For example, Alan Brown explains that a reason for unintentional plagiarism is the “source amnesia”. Elizabeth Redden, the author of “Cheating Across Culture”, emphasized that the international students plagiarism are mainly caused from cultural diversity by presenting the news that 34 Duke University students got penalties because of cheating. And Stanley Fish, in “Plagiarism Is Not a Big Moral Deal” believes that people plagiarize due to the unconsciousness of the game’s rule. In the article “11 Reactions to the Harvard Cheating Scandal”, Susan Blum considers that under the competitive circumstance, students would choose an easier way to complete the task. In fact, plagiarism is a common issue in academic fields. In my opinion, except for those intentional and profitable plagiarism, the main reason is different definitions of plagiarism and cultural difference. In China, my teachers hardly pay attention on plagiarism, besides, Chinese don’t usually use APA lists or carefully cite the sources. At the same time, the number of international students are keeping increasing, so plagiarism should be valued as important issue.

one paragraph of whether the plagiarizing or infringing copyright
In recent time, plagiarism and copyright infringement
are the very popular topics to discuss in public. There is a hot topic which is
the differences between the plagiarism and the copyright infringement. Specifically
speaking, plagiarism and copyright infringement can be different in legitimization
which is I think is a main difference. In other words, plagiarism does not
apply to the law. In “the plagiarism is not a big moral deal”, the author Stanley
Fish claim that the plagiarism is a rule of the academic rules that everyone
who participate in academia should follow rather than a moral issue which refer
to plagiarism can be judged by the people’s stereotype. Namely, plagiarism is
not applicable to the law. Moreover, in the Salon.com, the author Charles
Cronin points out that there is a copyright law to protect the people’s intellectual
property from being offended by other people which refer to the copyright
infringement by using the music copyright infringement as a example. In contrast,
other groups of people argue that the main difference between copyright infringement
and plagiarism is the definition of these two behaviors. In Salon.com, The
professor Jonathan Zittrain insist that plagiarism is a lie about copying from
other people’s work, yet the copyright is the behavior that a people copy other’s
work. In conclusion, there could numerous of differences that plagiarism and
the copyright infringement have, so this topic can be continually discussed in
the future.

Many reports show that more students commit plagiarism contributed mostly by international students recently. Elizabeth Redden, the author of”Cheating Across Cultures”, states that some students of Duke University were charged with plagiarism, most of them were from Asian countries. She suggests cultural difference between countries is the main reason for this issue. At the same time, language barriers international students’ faces, isolation and desperation they feel are possible reasons for this growing academic misconduct. In contrast, another famous university-Harvard University traps in academic misconduct scandal. As reported, 125 students were suspected to finish take-home exam by groups while they were asked to work by themselves. Mr. Harris, as cited by Richard and Jess, suggests the modern technology propels this phenomenon. No any geographical restrictions among students by all-pervading network. So the convenience of commiting academic misconduct is the main reason of this issue.

Many international students in Western universities are
involved in plagiarism for different reasons. Some students pretend other’s works as their
own assignment for the efficiency. Some
students are not fluent with English; so, since they have a difficulty with
their works, they use other’s work without giving credits. However, the biggest reason why international
students are involved in plagiarism is that they have never learned about
plagiarism policies. Since society has become
more information-oriented, protecting copyrights has become an important issue.
In this sense, Western countries built
up laws for valuing intellectual works in advance; however, Asian countries have
not legislated the rules yet or are about to start to establish them. According to Alvin Toffler, a futurist and the
writer of “Revolutionary Wealth”, the process of changing laws is more
difficult compared to the advancement of technology and change of society. To be specific, the laws in Asian countries for
the protecting intellectual properties cannot keep up with the change of
society. It makes Asian student be
unaccustomed to plagiarism rules in colleges.
On the other hand, some people maintain that a part of international
students’ culture affects them to be implicated in plagiarism. For example, Elizabeth Redden, who is a writer
of the article “Cheating across
cultures”, argues that international students are involved in plagiarism due to
their culture. She insists that culture
of international students, especially Asian culture, considers knowledge and
intellectual properties as shared endeavors.
But, it is not concerned with Asian culture itself; it is rather related
with underdevelopment of laws for preventing plagiarism.

There are several
perspectives toward plagiarism since it has become a hot topic in the world.
Plagiarism could be affect by culture, educational background or some other complex
factors. However, Stanley Fish, a college professor claims that plagiarism should
only easily be viewed a rule of game. It is partially right that plagiarism is
like the rule of a sport game such as the example he gives in his article ”
Plagiarism Is Not a Big Moral Deal”. It says golf has a strict rule;
nevertheless, no matter how serious it is, it’s still a game. A game is used
for playing. Thus, if the requirement is only following the rule, then here
comes many ways to play the game. There is a group of people called ghostwriters.
They are educated and trained writers who could write a essay under those
academic rules. Dave Tomar, a former academic ghostwriter, cited by Dan Berrett
in his article “An Academic Ghostwriter, the
'Shadow Scholar,' Comes Clean”
acknowledges that he had written for a number of college students including
undergraduate, master and even doctor. How could this profession come out? Why
those high educated people keep hiring ghostwriters? And why do people view
that as inappropriate? The reason is that plagiarism could not be viewed as a
simple problem solved by the strict rule; it is an issue having a higher level
which is a moral deal.
Blog#7 Issue Paragraph
Recently, the number of international students involved in plagiarism
has increased more frequently. There might be numerous reasons about what cause
International students plagiarism. Different culture experience is a factor of causing
student cheating. For example, in China, an essay will get a great score if the
writer adds many famous person’s words in my essay. Thus the different culture
experience might lead to different understanding of plagiarism. Greenblatt, as
cited by Elizabeth Redden in “Cheating Across Culture”, points out “many Asian
students who come from education systems in which the norm is to repeat back a textbook
or a professor verbatim as a sign of respect to the source of knowledge.” Furthermore,
the convenient technology is another factor of student committing plagiarism.
In China, it is free for downloading new books, watching movies and listening
music on the Internet. People usually just put some key words in “baidu” search
engine, and then they can find suitable information. The convenient Internet
causes people to citing others’ opinions without quotation marks. In Daniel
Luzer’s article “Plagiarism on the rise”, he presents a result of a survey from
the Pew Research Center about plagiarism in college. Plagiarism in students’
paper has increased over the past 10 years, moreover an overwhelming 89 percent
say computers and Internet have played a major role in the rise in stealing
others work and claiming it as their own.

Plagiarism is more
prevalent in education, influenced by cultural difference and its ambiguous
boundary. For example, Elizabeth Redden, in his article “cheating across
cultures”, addresses the issue that 34 Duke university school students were
found collaborating on a take-home test. Geenblatt, as cited by Redden, argues
that one of the reasons of this problem is that Asian students cannot fit in
the western styles of quoting and are regard plagiarism as normal, due to the
cultural difference. For my own experience, our teachers have never told us the
definition of plagiarism and how to avoid it. We can use others’ academic paper
without quoting and download the music whatever we like. Nevertheless, these
are illegal behaviors in USA, which is extremely different from Chinese
situation. Another key point is the language barrier. Students and even honor
code students maybe get pressure and lazy on doing homework. Consequently, they
find people or some website to help them to write essay, as included by G.
Thomas Courser and Dan Berrett in their articles “Dear plagiarist” and “An
academic ghostwriter, the ‘shadow scholar’, comes clean”. Moreover, freshman
have trouble to define the boundary of cheating, which can also result in
plagiarism. Marita, mentioned by Mike Rose, in his article “Lives on the
boundary”, was accused by copying others work, punished by teacher. She
acknowledged some sources, not quoting all the sentences perfectly, but
endeavoring to finish assignment well, which is unconscious plagiarism. Besides
this issue, cartoonists are easier to make mistakes in plagiarism, since the
symbols and pictures are common, which lead them to have unique ideas. All
these phenomena result from the ignorance of importance of plagiarism. Patricia
McGuire, in her article “the culture of deceit”, criticizes the problem of
cheating spreading in society. She points out that many children are not regard
plagiarism as a big deal and find excuses for their fault. Above all, we need
to explore methods to avoid plagiarism to insure the quality of education.

Reflection of writing
Nine
weeks passed since the semester began, We have discussed plagiarism and written
several articles in English. We talked about the tense, verb, sentence. Actually,
I'm not a good writer, even write an article in Chinese could be a tough task
for me because writing in Chinese style try to let student use flowery sentence
and vocabulary to make their work more "beautiful". The biggest writing
difference between two countries is that we usually read others' articles and
remember their good verb using and sentence so that we can use them in our own
work; however, these writing skill can cause plagiarism in America. We present
our own experience and imagination to complete the task.
But
the American academic article is quite different from the Chinese version, we
focus on the opinion, try to give more and more detail to support that, we read
other's articles, cite the source and use it to reinforce our point. I took
physics class this semester, at first, I did not do very well in this class, I
just could not understand why my teammates wrote so much in the quiz since I
have nothing to write. I confused myself and asked for the opinion from ESL
professor, he told me that American always try to write more detail so that the
readers can fully understand what we want to explain. Even the digital story,
we need have a conclusion, then we use self-experience to present it.
Chinese writing Vs English Writing
In my
opinion, there are some differences between my Chinese writing and English
writing. Firstly, when I use the Chinese to write a paper, I spend my lot of
time on describing my emotional feeling about the things that surround me. Specifically
speaking, I mainly focus on techniques which can polish my paper better and the
content in the paper. Moreover, when we are using Chinese to write a article, I
just use my own experience and sometime when I use others’ words not only in
the that people’s article but also that people’s saying, I just copy them from
my mind without any connections to the original author or article. This phenomenon,
I think, is resulted from our attention when we are reading a book or searching
a resource in Chinese. Specifically
speaking, when I read book or an article, I just focus more on the content and
ignore the author’s name.
In
contrast, when I use English to write an article, I pay more attention to the
objective fact and less emotional feelings. Moreover, when I writing in
English, I try to distinguish an appropriate word for describing a suitable
situation in the paper and sometime I use wrong grammar in English.
Furthermore, in my
digital story, I just try to avoid the grammar and spelling mistakes. Moreover,
I try to explain my opinion clearly and try to use some ironic words in my
story which can make people interesting in my story; there are less emotional
feelings in my digital story.
Lastly, due to the learning
of plagiarism in recent month, I come up a way to avoid it. It is my first time
to know about the copying is forbidden in academic writing. The simplest way to
avoid this problem is giving a respect for the original author, in other words,
quoting. Also I use the paraphrasing to avoid this problem.
Writing Self Reflection-Yuhang Yi
Comparing to reading, listing and speaking,
writing is the worst part in my language learning. However, I don’t hate
writing; I just don’t like it. I used to write some blogs and chat with my
friends online a lot through words. Those writings are causal so I can use some
informal words to make them fun. But academic writing is really formal and it
has many strict rules. When I was in Chinese school, most time my writing
scores could above average but it still had a gap to the top. Thus, if for English
writing, it just could be even worse.
The English grammar is not that hard; I think
I almost understand and good at it. The problems are the writing of complex
sentence and the use of vocabulary. A complex sentence is always hard to write
and it is also not easy to comprehend when I’m reading. Too many clauses make
me confused and lost. And for vocabulary, I just can not come out a better word
so many times during the writing. For example, people always use “get”, but in
academic writing, I have to use a higher level synonym such as “obtain” to show
I’m an intelligent and educated person. Another vocabulary problem is how to
spell specialized word or term. For those words, because I already know them in
Chinese, so every time when I write in English, I have to translate them in to English.
There comes a trouble which is the order difference between Chinese and
English. For instance, “The Declaration of Independence”, if I write it in Chinese
way, it will be “The Independence Declaration”. Another situation example, “Butterfly
Effect”, it may be written like “Butterfly Influence” due to similar meanings.
I could use internet and dictionary to search for them during homework. But waht if I'm take an exam? Therefore, I still need time to "enrich" my vocabulary. Such as here, I don't know if "enrich" is appropriate or common use. Or should I choose "enlarge", "extend" or other words. Furthermore, there are a whole bunch of American sayings and slangs outside I don’t
know.
The digital story writing didn’t take a
long time because basically I just narrated the international exchange
experience. Those students’ comments did help me in some ways. I added some explanation
sentences to make the story more comprehensive. And for plagiarism, I mainly knew
it. And as a result of this quarter’s learning, I fully understand how serious
it is and several to avoid.
And I think the more I want to learn are the
usages of intext citation and reference list.

Blog 6 - Self Reflection
To be honest, I am not a good writer in Chinese Writing because I don't like it. When i first met composition in my primary school, it was my nightmare. I am good at logical subjects such as math, but i found that it does not work in Chinese composition, which needs a lot of imagination. I hated writing compositions and every time when I was writing my essay, I had no idea until the time was up, and then I had to rush to finish it. As an result, I didn't get good grades in my writings perhaps because I was careless and wasn't focused in my writings. When I started to write English paper such as TOEFL academic writings and ACT writings, I found that English is not as hard as i thought it would be. English writing is more logical than Chinese writing, so I don't hate English writing. However, as my second language, my English writing is also poor in some aspects. On one hand , I am proud of myself that I can come up with a clear structure to express my opinion. On other hand, lacking of suitable or exact word to describe ideas and grammar mistakes in sentences make it really hard for me to express my ideas perfectly. I even avoid using compound sentences and aways use simple sentences instead. Overall, my English writing still needs more practices and improvements.
When i was write my digital story, it was very hard for me to write a big story with so many words, Eric gave a good way to make the same work much easier - The digital story script. It helped me a lot by leading me from one step to another. I first think in my mind in Chinese, and then translate it into English and try to express the main points. I got feedbacks, and finally with the outline I finish the digital story.
The concept of plagiarism is deep in my mind. At the beginning of every class, I will be warned to avoid plagiarism, especially in this class. The main idea of the class is about plagiarism, I am surprised with that and I think this class is very useful for me to avoid plagiarism in my college life.

I like writing in my first language. However, it still bothers me when it becomes assignment of exams. In China, I only write diaries and blogs except those asked by teachers. So I'm not familiar with writing skills and format. But at the same time, I do believe that writing is the best way to express feelings and excellent experience. I was definitely poor in second-language writing including every foreign language I've learned, such as English, Spanish and French. I have no idea how to organize my thoughts and how to present my ideas precisely and comprehensively. What frustrates me more is the grammar points and vocabulary. All aspects of English writing seemed difficult to me that time. However, things are different now, after taking writing courses, I gradually have some basic ideas and how to write in English. Let me use digital story for example, firstly I wrote a outline, then I expand the whole story according to my outline, and the last step is to revise several times. Other students' comments sometimes do help me revise with the logical problem and improve my work more fun facts. What's more, I got the concept of plagiarism through the course. By discussing some articles and working on several summaries, I knew exactly what is plagiarism and how to avoid it. Even though I still forget to cite or quote sometimes, but at least I start to improve. The last but not least, I still need to work on is improving paraphrasing skills, which means more exercises on changing words and structures. In conclusion, writing is a hard task for me so far, but I have improved and I will do better in the future.

In
fact, I'm not a very good chinese writer. I used to write paper for getting
good grades in the exams according to all sorts of ways were taught by my
chinese teacher. First, my teacher always asked us to read more famous books to
improve writing skills and keep in memory with beautiful sentences. Then, we
will practice more to make our essays better and better. However, the real
feelings in the essay is the most important point. Because readers always are
touched by the real feelings in the life. Regardless, touching paper without
beautiful sentences also can attract readers. I'm not good at writing english
paper. When I wrote the summaries before, I found that I need to take the time
to organize sentences and look for some unknow words. However, I improved my
organization sentences capacity and vocabulary after several weeks. Although
just improved a little, I have made a progress.
Writing the digital story script is
interesting, because we will combine music, picture and words to make a
different digital story from any paper we wrote in China. Despite we edited
again and again, but our paper become better and better including classmates'
comments. After having ESL class, I know how to cite the resource and how to
avoid plagiarism. Because of educational background, know more about plagiarism
is useful for my paper. Otherwise, I will always make mistakes for my writing
style in China. So, I will pay attention to my paper to avoid plagiarism and
improve my paper.
Blog #6 Writing Self Reflection
Without doubt, I am not a person who has
not friendly relation with writing since I was young. Whenever I have a writing
assignment, my head was filled up about how to start my story and complete it
and I used to receive low grade for writing class as well. It made me get a
kind of Trauma in Writing. So, fear of writing a paper was always followed me
around, even though I write in Korean which is my mother tongue. Therefore, I
can say that I was not a good writer and I was not even interested in writing.
However, since I studied abroad, I was needed to write all the papers including
in English. I was in big panic for the first time. As an example, the word
order of Korean is different from that of English. Normally, in case of Korean,
we use subject, object and verb orderly so that the difference between Korean
and English let me throw me into confusion. Moreover, the thing English has
lots of synonyms than Korean gave me a hard task to go through it as a Korean.
Speaking of digital story, I wrote the digital story script easier than I thought, because it was
not required a deep topic. I just could focus on sharing interesting experience
I have with classmates. After I have classmate’s comment recommending me revise
mistakes in sentences, I tried to write well-organized structure by amending
those.
About plagiarism, although I knew I should not use someone else’s source
