Finding Forester
In the movie, Finding Forester, it talks about
how Forester gets his own personal changes from the shadow of his family members’
death. This kind of change is because of a high school boy which is named Jamal.
Specifically speaking, Jamal go to the Forester’s apartment to get help on his
writing paper. Moreover, Forester taught Jamal how to write when he was writing.
Later on, Jamal tuned in the paper which some of paragraph is from the Forester’s
paper and his professor finds out this plagiarism. Due to this big issue
happened in Jamal, Jamal has big conflict with Forester because Forester does
not tell him that his paper is published in New York Time before. After this
conflict, Forester began to aware that it is his fault to make this tragedy
happen and try to make it up. Furthermore, Jamal in this movie also have a lot
of changes, Jamal got a lot of knowledge on how to actual write a paper.
In general, it is a good movie, it has a
good ending for everyone and it is more realistic and closer to people’s daily
life. Specifically speaking, the author of this movie use lots of typical American
English in order to make movie more realistic. Moreover, it tells people that
do not afraid to make a change even if this change can have a worth thing that
you think. The personage of success in trying to make a change is higher than
those do not want to make a change. The mast important theme is that how
Forester changes his life as the help of Jamal.
blog #8 - Finding Forrester
“Finding Forrester” is a movie
describing a friendship between a high school student Jamal Wallace and a
famous writer William Forrester. Jamal
is a talented with writing and basketball in a high school. One day, he found someone was watching him
and his friends from the top of the building though the window. Jamal’s friends challenged Jamal to intrude his
house and Jamal accepted the challenge.
However, he left his bag in William’s room and when Jamal got his bag,
he found out the William corrected all of his writing. After this event, they became close and William
taught how to write a paper. As they got
closer, they went to baseball stadium and William started to talk about his
family. Once in the writing competition,
Jamal used William’s private writing and he got involved in plagiarism. They had many events; however, William
forgave him eventually and restored their relationship. After William’s death, Jamal received a letter
and the key to get into his house. In
his house, Jamal found Forrester’s manuscript of second novel, called
Sunset.
I
enjoyed the movie “Finding Forrester” with confident acting of actors and
actresses, and a good story line. While
I watching the movie, I was reminded of a movie called “Good Will Hunting”. They both describe the deep friendship
between an old man and a young guy. As
watching the movie, I thought Forrester is related to me when he was scared to
go outside and had a severe anxiety attack. In the movie, outside of his house is not
comfortable to him and he was afraid to go to new world. I was also afraid and scared of coming to new
world which is America. I did not like
adapting to new environment and sometimes I felt frustrated. I could fully understand when he had hard
time with the crowd. Personally, I
really envy the deep and pure friendship between Jamal and William. I want to have a mentor like William, who can
advise and have a serious conversation with, in my life. I think the most important theme in this movie
is friendship between them. Even though
Jamal made a mistake which was using William’s writing without permission, they
eventually restored their relationship. I thought it was beautiful to forgive and go
back to good relationship. After
watching this movie, I thought about plagiarism which Jamal was implicated and
real friendship over gap of age between them.

Finding Forrester is a movie about a black
high school student, Jamal Wallace. He is good at playing basketball and has a
talent on writing as well. With the help of a reclusive writer, William
Forrester, who won Pulitzer Prize, Jamal has a great improvement on his
writing. As a friend of Forrester, Jamal brings Forrester to a stadium. Basing
on the trust for Jamal, Forrester tells him his family. However, in Jamal’s new
famous high school, his professor Crawford doubts on his amazing writing and finds
out his writing plagiarizing a Forrester’s early published article. Jamal was disappointed
by school because his writing talent is submerged by his basketball ability. In
the championship game, he probably loses the two final determined scores on
purpose. Being influenced by the basketball and Jamal’s letter, Forrester decides
to show in public and read his article. Consequently, Forrester wins both the
chance for writing competition and the withdrawal of plagiarism charge. After
about one year later, Jamal receives Forrester’s house property and surprise
knows that Forrester was diagnosed a cancer several years ago. It is Jamal that
influences Forrester on self-discovery.
The plot of this movie is unexpected. In
the beginning, it describes Jamal’s life and his friendship with Forrester
flatly. However, when Jamal involves plagiarism, breaking the friendship with Forrester
and losing the championship game are came out as following bad lucks. Plagiarism
as a famous issue was raised notably in the movie. Comparing his simple life
before, the plagiarism charge is a big frustration for Jamal. At the same time,
the Forrester’s appearance in the school relights Jamal’s bright future and
show the power of their friendship. Jamal’s brother, Terrell, actually plays a
significant role in the movie. Terrell understands Jamal well and helps him in
different ways. Personally, the film reminds me the seriousness of plagiarism
and the importance of friendship. The most important theme is choice. For
Jamal, he chooses between writing and basketball; for Forrester, he chooses
between reclusive life and real life. They influence by each other deeply and
make the final right decisions.

Finding Forrester
The Finding Forrester talk about a story happen between two people, Jamal Wallace and William Forrester. Jamal is a 16 years old black teenager who has talent on writing and playing basketball. William Forrester is a reclusive writer who once won the Pulitzer Price. The story begin in a basketball court where Jamal always play basketball with his friends . They find out that Forrester always watch them from the window of a nearby apartment and so they name him the "window". Jamal was encourage by his friends to go the window's house but he accidently left his backpack there. Later he find his journals was read and gave commons. He want Forrester to read more of his writings. Since then their friendship begins. Forrester find Jamal has talent in writing and he taught him how to improve writing skills. Forrester firstly let Jamal to rewrite one of his essays and told Jamal never show others what was write in this apartment. But Jamal submitted that re-write paper in a writing competition as his own and was later found out of plagiarism. Jamal then face a dilemma, if he may be dismiss for school if he doesn't have the permission from Forrester. He chose to keep the promise and luckily he was told that if he can lead the school basketball team to win a championship he can still stay in school. At the end of that basketball game he got a chance to save his team and win the game but i think he chose not to. Because i think he don't want to stay in the school using his basketball talent rather than writing talent. At the end of the movie Forrester shown up in Jamal's writing competition and read one of Jamal's work in order to show Jamal really has a writing talent. After the competition Forrester thanks Jamal for keep the promise and friendship.I love this movie because it teach me how to make a chose between dream and reality. I love that part which Jamal got a penalty shot but he miss the ball. I think that's one of the dramatic moment in this movie and whether he missed the ball or not became a question. I think the mean theme in this movie is how Jamal chose between school and his dream as a writer. Different person may have different opinion about how he chose. But i believe he chose to miss the ball but he wants to stay in the school by using his writing talent.

“Find
Forrester” is a story about two unusual people’s friendship between
generations from two different worlds. Jamal Wallace is black guy who is good
at basketball and writing. Sean Connery acted “William Forrester” who is old
man and winner of The Pulitzer Price. William looks dangerous when he appears
at the beginning of the story. Several black boys playing basketball in front
of Forrester’ apartment. Black
guys find Forrester in the window, so the curiosity kills cat. Jamal lose his
bag when he venture into Forrester’s apartment. The processing of how the two
main actors get know each other looks so mysterious. This is the beginning of
the change of Jamal’s life. When Jamal get his bag back, he find that William
corrected his writing. Jamal go back to visit William but he requires Jamal to
write a 5000 words paper to explain why Jamal flee that night. They get know
each other deeply through their communication in writing and comments. The
private school invites Jamal to enroll because of his excellent test score. After Jamal transfers to the new private
school, he just realizes that William is the winner of The Pulitzer Price. The professor
in the school is frustrated in his talent so that contrast Forrester. But William
is a flash in the pan. So William sees his dream again. One night, they go to
Madison Square Garden to watch Knicks’s game, but William get lost in the Tube.
So they finally go the home stadium of New York Yankee. They talk a lot about
his Brother. They believe each other and Jamal keep the secret and William help
Jamal to do better in his writing.
This movie is absolutely
wonderful. In the story, I think Jamal affects me because he is ambitious. The friendship
changes the direction of Jamal’s life and awakens Forrester’s heart. They
choose to open their mind boldly but not close themselves. If Jamal do not meet
this talent scout, he will probably put all his life in basketball. However, he
finds which way is the best for him to develop in future. Forrester excavates
Jamal’s real potential and unleash his energy. People should not fear when they
communicate in soul because the people can find a new self after they open the
window in heart. Forgiveness and understand are the most important core that
help each other to build the friendship.
movie critique--finding Forrester
Gus
Van Sant, in his film “Finding Forrester”, describes a story between an
African-American boy—Jamal Wallace and a famous author—William Forrester who
has won Pulitzer Prize in New York City- Bronx. He addresses that Jamal is a
potential talent writer and basketball player, but his high school professor
cannot find it. Accidentally, Jamal intruded into Forrester's home, leaving his
backpack here. When Jamal got his bag, he found that Forrester edited his
articles specifically. He wanted to talk with Forrester, but Forrester let him
write a 5000 words paper. Jamal wrote it carefully which surprised Forrester.
Eventually, Forrester invites Jamal to come into his home and teaches him
writing. Meanwhile, Jamal were asked to attend a private school due to his test
score, in which he shows his talent on basketball. One day in his teacher’s
office, Jamal discovered that Forrester is a famous author unconsciously. Then
Forrester told him his experience, asking Jamal keeping secret. Jamal encouraged
him, persuading Forrester walking out to experience the wonderful life outside.
With the time passing, Jamal obtains great improving on writing which lead to
his professor’s suspension. His professor found that Jamal used Forrester’s
article published on New Yorker without quoting, asking Jamal writing apology
paper and reading them in front of class. Jamal felt upset and mad, arguing
with Forrester. Few days later, Jamal failed to win the basketball game because
of the awful emotion. After the game, Jamal wrote a letter to Forrester which
moved him. Forrester stood in front of public again, proving Jamal’s talent. Unfortunately,
Forrester passed away for cancer, leaving all his fortune to Jamal.
Overall,
this film is great. The setting is realistic and appropriate, describing their
life with happy and sad in New York. And the plots are compact and interesting
which attracted me and the relationship between characters is clear while
predictable. Nevertheless, at the end of the film, Forrester passed away
because of cancer is unexpected. I like the character about Forrester—a
multi-dimensional person, because he is the most mysterious person. At first,
he impressed like a mean and odd people. However, with the development of plot,
I find that he is outstanding, virtuous and brave, influencing Jamal a lot. In
my opinion, this film is meaningful, disclosing the friendship between Jamal
and Forrester, the racism and self-discovery, for instance, Jamal became more
confident and Forrester was willing to face the world again. Thus, this film is
well-developed and vivid which is unforgettable.

In the 1970's~1980's of Bronx, NYC, a 16 years old high school African-American boy, Jamal Wallace meet an old man who is a reclusive Pulitzer Proze-wining novelist, William Forrester by chance and both of them learn lessons from each other about life and important precious friendship. At first, Jamal shows his talent in playing basketball in front of of Forrester's apartment and Jamal was attracted to the "mysterious" apartment. One day, he decide to explore the apartment and his lost his backpack. The backpack was returned to Jamal through by window. To Jamal's surprise, he found that Forrest had correct his hand writing book like a stick-to-itive teacher. Soon, Jamal went to Forrester's apartment and said sorry to him, however, Forrester asked Jamal to write a 5000 words about why he could stay out or to get out of the apartment. Then, Forrester started to teach Jamal how to write,"write your first draft with your heart, you write with your head". They began to talk often and a friend ship formed by the time goes. Once Jamal invite Forrest hang out and Jamal brought him to the baseball stadium as Forrester's birthday present. Meanwhile Jamal's writing skill improved a lot even he got praise of his high school teacher.Jamal got a chance got to a private school with scholarship but his new teacher Crawford was a man who don't believe he could write a good essay. So finally Forrester went to the school and proved that Jamal's writing is made by himself.
For me, I think the movie is good at setting and telling a touched friendship, the plot is very realistic, I notice that the background of that time is very chaotic and full of crime society, so it is more rare for two different kind person have a such good experience and emotion of the friendship. I like Forrester much more, he is kind to correct a stranger's book, he is willing to teach how to write for a boy he never know before, Also, he is a person with so much glamour. He is vivid, drinking whisky, shoot a film. One thing I always interested in is their accent, Jamal speak Africa-Amercia English and Forrester speak Scottish English but it is no influence for their friendship and they don't hate each other becaose of the race or something else. From my experience, it is easily for two Chinese people make a conflict due to speak different accent cause accent means your background. Finding Forrester helps me a lot understanding the meaning of friendship. For the theme, I think it is important to find yourself, in the film, Jamal and Forrester both reach their position, Jamal find his talent in writing and playing basketball, Forrester is not alone anymore. I think it is a big question for noways day people to think about: Are you put yourself as a good position and find your talent like Jamal?

Jamal Wallace, a black teenager who studied
at a local high school at Bronx, New York City, is a main character in the
movie” Finding Forrester”. In this movie, Jamal is good at playing basketball
and often practices basketball in the court with his friends. They noticed
someone watching their playing from a window; thus, Jamal accepted the challenge
of finding out this strange people. After he successfully sneaked into this
stranger’s window, he left his bag at stranger’s apartment. When he walked on
the street and talked with a postman, he found his missing bag thrown down and
his writing had been commented by this stranger. Afterwards, he wanted more
help in his writing, visiting this stranger again. The stranger started to be familiar
with Jamal and helped his writing. Then, Jamal got the opportunity of studying
at a private school with scholarship based on his talented basketball skills and
high test scores. After Jamal entered this new school, Jamal’s new writing
professor, Crawford, asked students to read a book and write essays. Jamal
found this stranger who helps him is the author of this book and the winner of
Pulitzer Price, Forrester. Then, Jamal took Forrester go around and Forrester
told his story with his brother as the reason of his reclusive life to Jamal. After
Jamal submitted his essay, Crawford found that Jamal’s work is kind of similar to
Forrester’s points, and charged Jamal of plagiarism. Then, Jamal asked Forrester for help, but
Forrester refused this request. After losing the title of basketball match,
Jamal wrote a letter to Forrester which touched him. Finally, Forrester stood
out publicly to prove the integrity of Jamal.
In
my opinion, the plot of this movie is so unexpected. The two most unexpected
plots are Jamal found out Forrester was exactly the stranger who helped his
writing and Jamal took Forrester into the Yankee Stadium to give him this
birthday present. Although I can guess some connection between this stranger with
Forrester by the movie name “Finding Forrester”, but I originally thought this
stranger helped Jamal to find Forrester. In addition, I was surprised to see
Jamal was so attentive to notice the motion of Forrester to Yankee Stadium and
help him to get into Yankee Stadium.

Finding
Forrester shows us a story of Jamal and Forrester helped each other so that they
build a special teacher-student relationship and a good friendship in the
process. Jamal Wallace, an African-American teenager who has talent in playing
basketball and writing. William Forrester is an eccentric recluse who do not
like to go out when he lost his brother and parents. Jamal and his friends always
play basketball in front of Forrester's apartment. One day, they played a game
to test if Jamal has the courage to bring something from the apartment. Unluckily,
Jamal was found and lost his bag in the apartment. Later, Jamal got his bag
back and found his essays were corrected by Forrester. Then Jamal felt sorry
and went to the apartment to apologize. However, Forrester asked Jamal to leave
or write 5000 words to explain why he should stay in the apartment. On the
other hand, Jamal was invited to a private school because of his basketball
skill. Jamal found that Forrester is a famous writer who was a Pulitzer Prize
winner when he was visiting his new school. Jamal asked Forrester to teach him
how to write and promised not to tell others anything. They became closer and
knew more about each other. Jamal took Forrester to a sports field to enjoy the
feeling of quiet as a birthday present. Forrester told Jamal the death of his
brother, they knew more about each other. Actually, Jamal's writhing had a big
progress that was different from his writing style before. And it has noticed
professor and the professor thought he has plagiarism. In the end, Jamal's
innocence was proved by Forrester.
I think this movie needs to be enjoyed by
oneself. Although it is a ordinary narrative film, it also touches us and tells
us more about human nature. A teenager and an old man help each other, their
special teacher-student relationship not only help Forrester go out of his
brother's death but also help Jamal draw out his potential capacities. I think
Forrester is the character that I most relate to. Even though I have a cheerful
disposition, I'm vulnerable actually. When I want to cry, I will look for a
place where no one here. I will evade problem sometimes like Forrester. From
the film, the most important theme is talking could reduce the distance between
people, know more each other could help each other regardless age, race, and
position.
Blog #8 'Finding Forrester'
There
are two main characters come up in the movie Finding Forrester and it pictures the story between one black young guy and old guy who was used to
be famous as a writer. One of the main
characters ‘Jamal’ is a teenager who lives in Bronx, Newyork and he has talent
in playing basketball as well as in writing. Forrester who is an old guy watch
them playing with telescope in top of the building. He was a Pulitzer Prize
winner long time ago and he has been kind of a hermit for a long time. The teenagers
notice someone is watching them but don’t know anything about him. So, they
decide to break into his house secretly. However, Jamal sensed someone
approaching and ran out without his backpack. Next day, his backpack is thrown
and Jamal checked his diary has corrections from him and go to him. First
Forrester does not open his mind but they are getting closer and the ability of
writing is developed as well. On the Forrester’s birthday, Jamal brings him to Madison
Square Garden and Forrester starts to have anxiety attacks. But, Jamal let him
stand on the mound in Yankee Stadium and Forrester thinks of the past which are
the death of his older brother who a chronic alcoholism and the death of parents.
Also, he thinks those made him as a hermit. In the Jamal’s story, he transfers
to another school and becomes a basketball team player in the school. Also,
teacher is doubtful on his talent in writing. In the writing class, literature
teacher notice that Jamal’s paper is the writing Forrester submitted to New Yorker
and casts suspicion as a plagiarism. Basketball manager proposes him to win and
then the punishment of the plagiarism will not be but Jamal loses. He realizes
that school put first on basketball, not on writing. However, Forrester comes
up to the composition competition and says that even though Jamal cites his
introduction, Jamal writes the whole essay. School accepts that and Jamal
becomes a successful by having acceptances from many universities. Forrester is
back to his home country, Scotland. One day, Jamal wise up to death of
Forrester and he gets Forrester’s apartment key, letter which says that he
thanks for motivating him because of Jamal and the second script. It implies
that Forrester wants Jamal finish it.
This is the best movie I have recently
watched ever. It seemed boring when I first watched because of the actors who
are not really famous and this is the old movie. However, it gave me a thrill. It
shows the friendship between young guy and old guy. They encouraged their life
each other. To be honest, I am envious of Jamal who finds what he really wants
to do and want to be. I was and I am always worrying about my future and what I
really want to do. But I still do not know and sometimes I am doubtful on my
way. I am the one who is afraid of the future and lots of chances in front of
me. However, Jamal found it. Therefore, I think I am more related to the
character, Forrester. In the last scene, Forrester says “Dear Jamal, Someone I once knew wrote that we walk away
from our dreams afraid that we may fail, or worse yet, afraid we may succeed.
You need to know that I would know so very early that you would realize your
dreams. I never imagined I would once again realize my own. Seasons change,
young man. And while I may have waited to the winter of my life to see the
things I have seen this past year. There is no doubt that I would have waited
too long had it not been for you." This is words from letter Forrester left and
this letter also really tugs at my heartstrings. Also, it will definitely, help
me to encourage my current and future life as to I have my own dream.

Blog#8 Finding Forrester
At the beginning
of the firm, Jamal plays basketball on the playground and Forrester look him through the window
mysteriously. Jamal and his friends discover Forrester to peep them. In the lunchtime,
these guys think Jamal doesn’t have courage to go to the old man apartment.
Then Jamal enters Forrester’s apartment, he was so scare and left his bag in
the apartment. Forrester throw Jamal’s bag through the window. Jamal finds that
Forrester touched his stuff and correct his mistakes in writing. Jamal goes to
Forrester’s apartment and apologizes to him. Forrester ask Jamal to write 5000
about leaving his home. Then Jamal was enrolled by a private school-Maillor. Jamal doesn’t need to pay anything. Jamal
come into the apartment and take back his essay. Jamal visits his new school
and finds out the Forrester is a famous writer. Then he came into Forrester’s
apartment again, and Forrester teaches Jamal how to write the paper, write
first draft by heart and the use think rewrite it. But Jamal can’t write
anything, then Forrester asks Jamal to type his previous work. Forrester doesn’t
allow Jamal to take it away. Jamal repeats it in the home and submit this to
his professor. His professor finds that Jamal’s recent work is better than
previous. He thinks it is unusual. Professor doesn’t think Jamal can write such
perfect essay. He thinks Jamal commits plagiarism. He asks Jamal to write next
assignment in his office. Jamal can’t write anything in professor’s office.
Professor finds that the writing that Jamal submitting is the Forrester’s
previous work which has been published in New York-The Season of Faith’s
perfection. The professor asks Jamal to write an apologize letter. Jamal
doesn’t do that. After he fails the game, he writes a letter to Forrester about
his heart feeling. Forrester come to school, and read Jamal’s writing.
Everybody think it is a masterpiece because of the author is only 16 years old.
Forrester think he needs to protect his friend who is that protect him and don’t
tell anybody about the apartment things. Finally, Forrester was dead and he
left his final book to Jamal.
I think this movie is a
masterpiece. When I watch the final on Google, I almost cry. The plot is
melting. The film shows the characters’ feeling and characteristic perfectly. I
think Jamal is my most like character. His life was changed after his family
member died, and he was reclusive. He doesn’t write anymore. However, Jamal helps him to walk out the
apartment. Jamal promises Forrester that he can’t tell anybody the apartment,
even though he will get a serious punishment about plagiarism, but he still is
silent. For me, plagiarism sometimes is convenience; it can help me finish assignment
more quickly, but it also prevents my talent growing. The most important theme
is Forrester helps Jamal to write essay, and Jamal helps Forrester to rewrite.

Finding Forrester told us a story about
self-discovery. Jamal Wallace, a 16-year old African-American boy with talent
in writing and basketball, challenged by one of his friends to get in the
apartment of writer William Forrester and bring something from there. Jamal
shocked by the yelling and ran out of the apartment; however, he left his
backpack there. Later, he got his backpack back from Forrester and surprisingly
found that his articles were read and commented by Forrester. Jamal went back
and asked Forrester if Forrester could read more his articles. Then they
started teaching & learning privately in Forrester’s apartment. Meanwhile,
Jamal got a chance going to a private school because of his basketball skill,
but his new professor did not believe the writing ability he shown in the
class. The relationship between Jamal and Forrester grown as the teaching
continued, Jamal encouraged Forrester to go out of the apartment and gave him a
special birthday present, they are more than teacher and student, they became
family. In the end, Forrester came out of his apartment and proved Jamal’s
writing skill in his high school.
As I said at beginning, this movie is about
self-discovery, with the help of Forrester, Jamal finally realized his talent
in writing and chose a different way. My favorite part in this movie is Jamal
took Forrester in the stadium and celebrated Forrester’s birthday. Forrester
finally told us the truth why he stopped writing. He thought that he caused his
brother’s death because he let him driving after he drunk. The only thing nurse
could do was talking about his book when his brother dying. Forrester stopped
writing and started living in his apartment. So I think Forrester gave Jamal
help with his writing but Jamal provided more help with Forrester’s life, Jamal
changed Forrester’s life.

Finding
Forrester is a film about Jamal Wallace, an African-American
high school teenager with highly talented in writing and basketball, who
develops a special friendship with an old man called William Forrester, a former
The Pulitzer Prize winner having a reclusive life in an apartment, Bronx, New
York. At the beginning, Jamal notices that William spies him playing basketball
his apartment’s the window. One day at night, Jamal plays a dare game with his
friends, so he sneaks into William’s apartment. But he has been found and leaves
his backpack in there accidently when he runs out. Later, Jamal has a
discussion about BMW company history with BMW car owner who regularly delivers
supplies to William to show his talent. After the delivery man leaves, when Jamal
walks back, his backpack drops from the window. Jamal takes it back home and he
finds out that the notebooks in the backpack with his writing has been edited.
Then Jamal tries to know more about this old man but William tells him to write
5000 words about why Jamal should stay out. Eventually, William is impressive
by Jamal and let him in to start conversation. Meanwhile, Jamal’s impressive
test score caught a celebrated private high school’s attention and he is
invited to go there. When he has a book reading assignment in that private high
school, he suddenly realizes that William Forrester, the writer of the book, is
the old man in apartment. He unmasks William in front of him. He asks William
to help his writing by promising to William keep secret. Later the other night,
Jamal finally takes William out to a New York Knicks basketball game in Madison Square Garden.
But William is pressed by the crowd and gets lost. With Jamal’s help, they leave
there and go to the Yankee’s stadium. In there, William Forrester starts
telling Jamal his family history. And in school, Jamal is caught in plagiarism in a writing contest. Then he has a big argument with Forrester. After that, Forrster finally rediscovers himself and step up for Jamal in school.
So far, this is a great and inspiring
movie. The actors precisely depict the characters personalities and feelings. The
plot is coherent and the relationship between a teenager and an old man is new
and attractive. I feel William Forrester is the character I most relate to. He becomes
reclusive after his family members died. And I’m not very talkative either. After
I went to high school and the came to college, I feel those close friends are
gone and I don’t know whom to talk with. Thus, till now, I think the most
important theme is this special friendship which a well known old writer tutors
a talented black American boy writing skill. And the question it raises is that
people can not be alone, they should go out and get to know others.
