blog9 online tutorial

This online plagiarism tutorial introduces me to some intricate issues regarding plagiarism, helping me to know when is considered as plagiarism and when is not. From the question 3-6, I raise a question that what shall I do if the criteria of the problem are ambiguous. I think this question is challenging to me, because it does not have an exact definition, which will make me confused. For instance, is it proper that I reuse my own old paper in a new assignment? Is it necessary to cite the idea which was mentioned by a member in our group? After filling out the online tutorial, I changed some opinions about plagiarism. Formerly, I did not pay more attention to plagiarism, thinking just acknowledge the author is ok. Nevertheless, I think plagiarism is more severe than what I considered before. If I am not sure what should I do, the safest methods are to ask teacher’s permission or to quote all the original resources carefully, and otherwise, I run the risk that the article where I take does not accurately report it.
From the last 4 questions, the question about how to avoid plagiarism comes to my mind, which is an interesting problem to me, since if I find the best way, I will work better on my homework and do not worry about plagiarizing. After filling out the online tutorial, I understand more about the methods to get away from plagiarism. For example, from question 7 and 10, I notice that the great approaches to avoid plagiarizing is trying to abstract the main idea, changing special terms that were stressed in articles and paraphrasing the words and sentence structures perfectly.
Overall, I learned some new approaches through the online tutorial which are useful in writing paper.
